Nature is hard. Nature is not forgiving. There is not Gallinule Delivery Service or Croaking Toad Dash Delivery. Nature says you eat what you can, when you can. In this instance, a first year gator got separated to far from its mother and “Snap” the Heron had it. The baby gator chirped to call mom, who came tearing over the bank and into the water, turned and was down the channel and on the trail, back into the water and twenty feet past us in the other direction in about 3 seconds. The Heron decided to fly away to eat in peace. Mom headed back to watch over the rest of the little ones.
