Circle B Bar Reserve has bobcats that are found year after year, but are rarely seen. There is a female called Notch as she is missing a piece of her ear. She is the resident matriarch of Circle B. This was a young Bobcat out learning to hunt on its own. This was not a successful hunt, but he got low, moved slowly, followed the prey, and even went into the marsh to try to catch the squirrel. Maybe next time little one. The back of the bobcat’s ears have a white spot called a “flash” or technically an dOcelli, which is use to communicate with they babies, and to ward of predators because they resemble eyes, making them look much larger.
