Red-Shouldered Hawks sometimes team up with crows to chase away Great Horned Owls. They will return the the same nesting area year after year, and the young are able to poop over the side of the nest at 5 days. There are 5 subspecies, four eastern forms and the West Coast form. The northern are the largest and the Florida ones are the palest.
