Great Blue Herons wil stab their prey with their pointy sharp beak often piercing both sides. If they kill it on the first strike, they will eat it whole. If they don’t kill it, they will shake and pull and work it off their beak and stab it again and again until it is dead and then eat what ever it is whole. If it is a small lizard or bug, they just flip it in the air to position it to go down head first, and then swallow it.
