One of two Night Herons in Florida. The other is a Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron. They fit their name as adults but look almost identical as juveniles. Black-Crowned are usually found inland at freshwater lakes, ponds and marsh type environments while Yellow-Crowned are usually found at the coast around salt water.
